i would like to fill it in with all puff stitches. how do i do that? do i do all puff stitches with no double stitch in between?

  4. tjw1963

A border can be anything. I have some short tutorials on adding a border to a square. It would be done the same way.

Hi Teresa! I’ve finally finished the main portion of my baby afghan! This is so exciting as this is my first crochet project! Anyhow, I haven’t the slightest on how to make a border. I know, I know, silly right? I can’t figure it out! Do you have a video tutorial that can assist?

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions! I am keeping notes on the new things I learn from you so I can refer to them when needed. Thankfully, we all have your wonderful videos to learn new things, improve on what we think we know, and also to refresh our memories as needed! You are a JEWEL!!!!

You could use a size I/5.5mm hook, 4 ply yarn and start with a chain of 120. You may want to consider using one or two double crochet on each edge, so you will have a straight edge if you are using a single crochet edging.

Do you have instructions for a baby afghan using the puff stitch? If I just make one without a pattern, could you tell what hook and yarn to use, about how many chains to start with and should I single crochet around it to finish? Thanks in advance.

    Thank you !

You don’t have to do that many if you don’t want to. I have done it with less. It creates a little different look and it just won’t be as full.

do you have to have 9 loops? can you do a puff chain with only like say 4 or 6 loops?

  16. tjw1963

Practicing is what I will recommend. Your yarn does not have to be real tight around your hook either.

I’m having trouble with this stitch – when I try to pull through all the loops I get in a tangle. Do you know of anything I can do to make it easier to complete the stitch?

  18. remoore1980

Thank you for answering that! You are so good!

What you can do is incorporate this stitch into a hat pattern that is already made like the beanie cap, find a pattern made completely out the puff stitch or make your own pattern. I would suggest replacing a single crochet every so often with a puff stitch. That will keep the cap closed tight from air.

  20. remoore1980

Ok this the stitch I would like to use for my girls hats. Now, When I do my increases can I not add the extra chains and double stitch in order to keep the hat more closed off from the air? Reason why I am asking its because I am not sure how to do the increases with the puff stitch. I hope this all made sense. Please let me now. Thank you so much. You are so inspiring. I have made five beanie hats because of you. I really need to show you my work.

  23. tjw1963

It is easy to become confused with the crochet stitches because there may be several names for one stitch.

  24. OuijaGurl

  25. tjw1963

It is the puff stitch. I will be showing the bullion stitch soon.
